The Ministry of Defense’s Additional Support Initiative to Facilitate Homeownership

Objectives of the Initiative

The initiative aims to enable military personnel to purchase a home that suits their needs by providing financial support in the form of an interest-free loan to cover the down payment. The initiative includes three financing options:

  • Off-Plan Properties
  • Prefabricated Housing Units
  • Self-Development

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for additional support, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be eligible for housing assistance.
  • Obtain new mortgage financing from an approved lender.
  • Eligibility for support is determined by a points-based system, in which applicants are evaluated according to the following criteria:
    • Age (Gregorian calendar) as indicated on the national ID card (40% of the evaluation)
    • The applicant's base salary (35% of the evaluation)
    • Number of registered family members + the applicant (25% of the evaluation)
    • An additional 0.5 points will be awarded to those stationed on the southern border or who have previously participated in military operations.

Collection and Payment Mechanism

Support is provided in the form of a soft loan repayable in monthly installments, with a minimum installment of 740 Saudi riyals. The repayment period begins 24 months after the financing contract is signed and continues for a maximum of 18 years. Collections are handled by the Real Estate Fund in coordination with the relevant government platforms.

    1. Peace be upon you. I am eligible for assistance and am registered with the Real Estate Fund. Am I eligible for housing assistance in addition to the Ministry’s assistance?
Also, how are the subsidized amounts calculated, and how are they deducted from the property value?

      1. Peace be upon you, and may God’s mercy be with you. Hello, Mr. Salman
If you have already obtained a mortgage through the Housing Support Program, you are no longer eligible for the Ministry’s subsidy
However, if you have not obtained the mortgage, you can apply for the Ministry’s subsidy in addition to the Housing Support Program.

          1. Okay, so if the 3-month deadline has passed and I haven't completed the financing procedures, can I extend it or submit a new application?

If this support does not cover property owners, which category is eligible for this support—the 160? Please advise.

  3. I did not benefit from the previous 140,000 initiative for military personnel. How can I determine my eligibility under the current 160,000 initiative, given that the self-build project is being carried out in phases and there have been some delays?

  5. Peace be upon you. I took out a mortgage from Al-Ahli Bank last week, and they didn’t give me the Ministry of Defense subsidy. When I asked them, they said there was no Ministry of Defense subsidy, but now they’re saying there is one. They’ve deprived me of the Ministry of Defense subsidy, and when I ask them about it, they say, “The birds have flown away with their sustenance.” And excuse me, but we’ve submitted your request—if this doesn’t work out, who else will give me my right thatguaranteed to me by the state? Where can I go, since I am a member of the Ministry of Defense and have no one to turn to but God Almighty?

  6. Peace be upon you, and may God's mercy and blessings be upon you. I own a piece of land that I mortgaged to the bank. I took out a loan and built a house for God, but the money wasn't enough to finish the house, so I am eligible for financial assistance.

  7. I don't own any property or anything else, and when I submitted my application, they told me I wasn't eligible for assistance. Please contact me at 0590836966.

  8. Peace be upon you
I received a message saying I'm eligible for 160 in support
And 140 in support. I don't have a property yet; I'll look for one.

  9. Peace be upon you
I called them, and they told me I’m eligible for 160,000 in support from the Ministry of Defense, but I don’t own any property yet. I’m waiting for the housing units to be approved. How do I receive the support?
